When it comes to mobile security issues, iPhone has a wonderful reputation of being safe from malware provided, you don’t jailbreak the phone. However, with several advanced threats popping up every day, iPhone may not remain threat free. There have been many incidents that iPhone users have faced malware attacks such as hacking of iCloud account.  This type of incidents do not prove that Apple OS has become weaker against malware attacks but many incidents are due to human errors. So we have added few iPhone security tips for users.

Keep your iOS Current

You should always keep your OS updated which is the first step towards your iPhone security. Apple fixes any type of bugs with periodic updates in the operating system. You can check for updates from Settings > General > Software Update.

Stay Away from Scam Apps

Scam apps are a very easy way to target smartphone users to steal their personal details or launch a malware attack. Compared to Google Play, Apple has apps that are considered quite safe but it’s not 100% foolproof. So you should read app reviews before installing one. You can also do an online research and check the developer details. It’s better to read the permissions demanded by the apps carefully before installing and immediately abort the process if you notice anything suspicious.

Change your iCloud Password

Better keep a unique password for your iCloud, which is quite different from your other online accounts. Using same email id & password for all accounts will put you at a great risk if any of your accounts is compromised.

Use Two-factor Authentication

When anyone attempts to sign in to a new device using your Apple Id and password, he or she must enter the 6 digit verification code to gain access. This becomes possible when you turn on the two-factor authentication, which is one of the best iPhone security tips. This is a good security measure as no one can intrude into your account even if your password is compromised.

Prevent Connecting Automatically  to known Wi-Fi hotspots

If your iPhone gets connected to any known Wi-Fi hotspot, you may think that it’s safe but there is every possibility that cyber crooks can create their fake wireless network with popular brand names, which may assume to be safe. You can turn the automatic connectivity off and cross-check manually with the owner of the premises before connecting your device.

In your phone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Ask to join networks
