whatsAPP-info

If you’re a WhatsApp user, then probably a few days back you would have seen a pop up message asking you to accept the new ‘terms and conditions’ of the company. Did you bothered to look over the details or just clicked the ‘I accept’ button as usual.

Well, for those who do not have a single clue about what this update was all about, here’s a detail about what actually happened:

So, basically WhatsApp which is acquired by the social media giant Facebook in the year 2014, will be sharing user data with Facebook. Photos, messages and other user information will be shared with Facebook in order to bring customized ads in front of users.

WhatsApp blog clearly states the following:

“Today, we’re updating WhatsApp’s terms and privacy policy for the first time in four years, as part of our plans to test ways for people to communicate with businesses in the months ahead. The updated documents also reflect that we’ve joined Facebook and that we’ve recently rolled out many new features, like end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp Calling, and messaging tools like WhatsApp for web and desktop. You can read the full documents here. We’re notifying everyone on the latest supported versions of our app about these updates, and you’ll be asked to tap ‘Agree’ to accept the updated terms.”

We can expect this change to reflect within few months from now. For those who are really concerned about their phone numbers can take a sigh of relief as there will be no advertisement of numbers to anyone. As a user you can either accept the change or deny the new privacy policy. However, for those who have accepted it already and wish to change it, can do the same by going to their privacy settings on WhatsApp.
