Hummer is an Android Trojan that has infected about 1.4 million Android devices on daily basis during the first half of 2016. Its high infection rate suggests that it could emerge as one of the biggest cyber threats of all time.
Hummer, when infects a device, simply gains the administrator privileges of the Android phone by rooting it. Then, it pushes pop up ads, mobile games and installs porn apps on the phone. When the user tries to uninstall these apps, these get re-installed automatically. It also generates a large amount of traffic which becomes a problem for users with limited data plans. This is how victims are trapped and affected.
Basically, a trojan horse is a malicious computer program which is used to hack computer systems by misleading the computer users of its true intent.
Countries that are believed to be affected by the Hummer attacks include India, China, Indonesia, turkey, Mexico, Russia, etc. It is also believed that the origin of this trojan horse is from the underground internet industry in China.
